Perth Wellness Annual Christmas Charity Drive
It is that time of the year again! Our Annual Christmas Charity Day will fall on 29th December 2020.
2020 has been a turbulent year for many of our friends, family, and clients, as residents living in Western Australia, we have been truly fortunate to have weathered the storm smoother than some of our Eastern counterparts. As the year comes to a wrap-up, we’d like to invite everyone to get into the mindset of contributing to the broader community and health space.
On this day, payment for your treatment (as little or as much as you choose) will be donated to charity. Invite you family, friends and colleagues. First timers are encouraged and welcomed. The more people we treat, the more we are able to donate as 100% goes to charity. Over the years we have raised over $85,000 for charity. We look forward to seeing you this year! Don’t forget that bookings are essential.
About Our Annual Christmas Charity Drive
For those who are hearing about this for the first time. Our Annual Christmas Charity Drive was started by Perth Wellness Centre CEO and Principal Dr Neil Brodie to commemorate the passing of Dr Phillip Horner (Former Senior Practitioner of Perth Wellness Centre).
Every single year during the festive season, our practitioners and staff volunteer their time to carry out allied health services (Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Massage Therapy, Personal Training, Psychology, Health Check-up’s) to the public whereby all funds collected during that time period will be awarded to a charitable cause.
This means you; your friends and family can come receive the benefits of our wide range of Allied Health services, get a spinal / musculoskeletal assessment, receive treatments & consultations and all fees paid goes towards charity.
Over the years we have donated to several causes including:
- Muscular Dystrophy WA
- Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science
- Spinal Research
- Direct Donations to clients with disability needs
- Direct donations to purchase respiratory machines for clients
This year we have once again elected Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science to be the primary recipient of our Christmas charity. As we work closely in providing various physical therapies to individuals affected with neurological disorders such as stroke, spinal cord damage and motor neurone disorders. The field of neurological research is one that we monitor and support closely.
Earlier in the year we had the privilege of visiting the headquarters of Perron Institute to view their facilities and gain better insight into their vision. Suffice to say we were glad to know that they have been conducting deep work in understanding the mechanisms of physical activity/ therapies and brain plasticity.
Overall, we believe in the work that the Perron Institute is doing, this year they have furthered their research efforts, conducted several public health workshops and expanded their network of partnerships.
In addition to that, we also arrived at the decision to provide some funding to the WA sporting community.
As a practice we work with various sporting teams, circles and communities in the Perth Metro area – and this year has been a tough year on community sports. Many of our sporting partners had to cease operations and as a result their community efforts were disrupted greatly.
We believe that community sports deserve more attention in the greater health space as we know that when we play sports – the entire community wins.
This also ties in with the company’s vision to reduce the overall burden of diseases (Chronic pain and preventable diseases) in the Australian population, We believe community sports is the front runner for improving both lifespan and health span across the different demographics as it carries the benefits of encouraging regular physical activity, healthy social relationships and promotion of health awareness.
We also have chosen to sponsor Healthcare Supplies and Solutions (HSS Australia) for their work in community sports. HSS Australia is a social enterprising company dedicated to improving healthcare access and utilization in the community, they have a platform that directly impacts community sporting clubs by providing healthcare services and virtual clinics. We participated in their community night in August and made direct monetary contributions to some of their efforts. You can find out more about their efforts and work here.
