Myofascial Pain Syndrome is chronic pain of the connective tissue surrounding the muscle known as fascia. This is also considered chronic soft tissue pain. The pain from this condition is usually experienced in the face, neck, and upper back.

While similar to fibromyalgia, myofascial pain is often limited to one region of the body. It is considered to be chronic. It is the result of trauma, extended inflammation, or surgical procedures. The condition produces extreme pain in the pain-sensitive fascia. Traditional treatment of this condition has always been using drugs to give the patient some degree of relief. More traditional physical therapy techniques have not proven as effective as the approach used in Myofascial Release Therapy.

What is Myofascial Release Therapy?

Myofascial Release Therapy is a hands-on therapy technique involving gentle massage. This sustained gentle pressure will ultimately allow the fascia to become longer and less tense.
